In Memory of David Henry Arthur (10/23/46-11/9/21)
Past President & Charter Member of CCDS, Friend to All

"THE PASSING OF DAVID ARTHUR, A DAYLILY FRIEND" by Tim Herrington
(Note: The letter "I" in this poem symbolizes all the daylily folks that knew and loved David).
As I walk into the garden and look into the sky,
I am thinking about David and saying a sad goodbye,
No matter what I do, the loss won't go away,
For that friendship is in my heart where it will always stay,
Daylily people are special and sit at the top of my friendship tower,
Since we all have the understanding about the glory of the flower,
Prissy’s Garden to David was not just a daylily patch,
It was a wonderful place where each day beauty did hatch,
When a daylily blooms oh what splendor, yet in silence it disappears,
Now this somber walk has allowed me to shed a few silent tears,
When I close these teary eyes, it is quite easy to see,
All the other memories of past daylily folks and me,
When daylily people pass, I just sit, calm down and find,
That they are still part of me within my spirit and mind,
Once we take a bloom into our heart things begin to get rather clear,
For great daylily people are also an entity to cherish and hold very dear.
